Our newest creation of Salt Works Art!

Every day at Salt Cay Salt Works,
we strive to prepare products you will enjoy.
While awaiting our packaging supplies from the U.S.,
we put out the word for more
Brugal and Vino Tinto bottles.
It wasn't long before we had plenty of bottles to wash and sterilize.
When you are washing that many bottles at a time,
drying becomes a bit of a problem.
But, not for our Mr. Wizard, Apol!
He created the bottle drying contraption
you see here
and within a few hours we had
200 more bottles ready to fill!
Here's our newest offering.
Little red Caribbean Heart soaps.
You can fall in love with the islands
and take these Caribbean hearts home to remind you...
or just pick up a pair to give to your heart's desire!
These lightly scented soaps
will bring back memories of your
Caribbean dream vacation.
Wishing everyone the very best of the season!
Happy Holidays from Salt Cay Salt Works!

Brand New Season~Brand New Business, Salt Cay!

The 2010-2011 Season is beginning on Salt Cay and Salt Cay Salt Works is up and running and ready to bring a little Salt Cay to everyone who visits the
Turks and Caicos Islands this year!
We have created a line of products that include
Bath Salts and Scrubs to pamper you,
Fancy Soaps just for fun and
Food Salts to liven up your meals and your cocktails.
We have done our research and can now also
provide you with the chef's specialty salt,
Fleur de Sel...
the uppercrust of salt from the drying ponds.
Being ever concious of our environment and protecting our island, we have once again agreed to pay for Brugal and Vino Tinto bottles.
We'll use these bottles to package our Bath Salts and Food Salts and once they have been cleaned, dried, filled and decorated, they'll look fabulous!

Here you can see just a sampling of our many products, made with loving care right on Salt Cay!
Antonia was SO ready for Boo to bring us the bottles he had been collecting.
He brought us over 500 bottles that he'd been collecting since June~wow!

Now, we have to soak, scrub, wash, sterilize, rinse and DRY them.
And LOOK at what Apol has built...a drying rack for our bottles!
Thank you Mr. Wizard for creating yet another smart solution for us!

Recycling Success Continues on Salt Cay, T.C. I.!

We just may be on to something!! There have been a lot of Salt Cay initiatives discussed while sitting at the bar at Porter's Island Thyme and most good ideas start with just a thought or a notion---
but this time I think we got it right!!

Carolyn Dickenson, our District Commissioner, has been on a crusade to clean up Salt Cay and make it not just beautiful by nature, but a gem in the archipelago.

Just this week, we saw two eyesores become lovely new snorkel and dive sites. Then, there's the retaining wall that is being built by the firemen on the road from the airport.

It must have been her inspiration that got the Salt Cay Girls thinking...and they decided to offer 30 cents a bottle for anyone who could collect and turn in empty Brugal or Vino Tinto bottles...and my oh my...what a HUGE success its been!

What an outpouring of community spirit and action we are seeing on Salt Cay! We are well on our way to collecting 1000 bottles and leaving behind a cleaner and tidier little island! Thanks to our top collectors listed right here:
Carlton
Boo
Sean
Vito
Lolli
Apol

Miss Carolyn said it best...
"This has to be the most successful recycling effort yet!"

mmmmm...wonder what the Salt Cay Girls will want to collect next?????

Our commitment to a Greener Salt Cay!

For anyone who has visited our little piece of paradise in the Turks and Caicos, you may know that many of the residents enjoy a sip or two of rum or wine. Those small Brugal and Vino Tinto bottles just happen to be a perfect size for holding one of our salt products! So, we've created a way to both make Salt Cay "greener" and prettier and to reuse and recycle those bottles.

We're paying 30 cents a bottle to anyone who will bring us empty and unused bottles. Just like that, we're able to turn something useless and invaluable into something of beauty! It's all about taking care of the environment, taking care of Salt Cay and thinking GREEN!

A little decoration and some sweet smelling salts and presto!! what was once trash becomes our treasure! Thanks to everyone who is taking the time to collect and bring us empty bottles or encourage others to do so. Salt Cay will be just that much more of a gem in the Caribbean thanks to everyone's efforts!
